Marla, I agree. Picking the right tie is a dying art. I would also suggest that a good pair of Cordovan shoes and matching belt would work well with Navy or Grey suits. Thanks for the info. Bob

Jill,

That is a great idea. When I am working with clients to edit their closets, I like to hang each category of clothing by color, light to dark. That really helps when you are getting dressed and need to find a certain color top, skirt of pant, or dress.

We would like to thank you yet again for the gorgeous ideas you offered Janet when preparing her post-graduate research as well as, most importantly, with regard to providing every one of the ideas in a blog post. Provided that we had been aware of your site a year ago, i'd have been kept from the pointless measures we were having to take. Thanks to you.

As a follow up to your entry on hangers, I find sorting my closet by color to be extremely helpful in getting ready each morning. It also helps me to take inventory on what colors I have too much or too little of!

Thrilled to have this! You have been on my mind so. With our weather finally getting cooler and the autumn colors finally changing it's a constant reminder of how fall is your season.
I'd love to receive the famous Marla chili recipe. If I am correct it's all white. It's been wAy to long.
Hope u have a great holiday!

Comment on Friendly or Forceful: What’s Your Feedback Style? by Bobbie Horowitz

This is truly excellent, Marla. I value feedback from people I trust. When I was heavily involved with producing theater I was told by a major Broadway producer that he listens to all feedback. If three people have the same negative feeling about any aspect of a presentation, etc. he'll look at it in depth and see what can be done to improve the piece. If two people say exactly the same thing and he truly trusts their knowledge of the subject, he'll glance through the script, cast, etc. and see if he agrees with any part of their feedback. If only one person has a negative take and others like it, he doesn't pay attention to it. I'm following this technique regarding my own work, except that I'll look at any negative comment first to see if I find making a change would be constructive - and then if I agree I'll take some action. So far, I didn't find the one singular negative comment I got - and got only after asking that person if I might give them feedback about something - to be useful. The "3 Rule" is pretty good, unless you're dealing with a person who's very well trained in the area being discussed.
