The weather is warming up, and summer will be here before you know it. There are many reasons that we anticipate the long, lazy days of summer. We have well-deserved vacations to look forward to, great weather for weekend activities like hiking, biking, and swimming, and there are summertime parties and potlucks to attend. Further, the vibrant beauty of summer lifts and renews our spirits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An irresistible\npage-turner.<\/strong>\nIf you haven\u2019t already updated your summer reading list, it\u2019s time to choose a\nfew new titles and get to reading! Relaxing with a few great books is the\nperfect way to spend an afternoon under a beach umbrella or on your deck with a\nglass of iced tea. This summer I am looking forward to reading Where the Crawdads Sing<\/em> by Delia Owens.\nBut first, here are a few of my recent favorites that I\u2019d like to recommend: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set in World War\nII and its aftermath, she blends the stories of a female Russian bomber pilot, a\nBritish investigator-turned-Nazi-hunter, and a young photographer from Boston\nas they face a vicious Nazi murderess known as the Huntress\u2014a thrilling story\nfrom beginning to end! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\nwill also enjoy The Alice Network<\/em>,\nwritten by the same author. It weaves together the lives of two women\u2014pregnant\nand unwed college student Charlotte \u201cCharlie\u201d St. Clair, and Eve Gardiner, a\nformer wartime espionage agent haunted by the betrayal that disrupted the real-life\ncadre of WWII spies known as The Alice Network. Together they embark on a\njourney to find Charlie\u2019s missing cousin Rose, who is lost somewhere in France.\nAn engrossing tale, you won\u2019t be able to put it down (and that\u2019s the point!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A chic white summer\ndress.<\/strong>\nSummer is the season for dresses of all kinds. From lightweight sundresses to\nlong and flowing maxis, and everything in between, there\u2019s a new summer frock\nout there with your name on it! I\u2019ve always been a fan of simple white dresses\nin the summertime\u2014nothing is more feminine, classic, or versatile. A white\ndress can be dressed up with heels and nice jewelry or dressed down for a\nrelaxed evening with casual shoes and a denim jacket. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A delicious new recipe\nyou\u2019ll want to enjoy over and over.<\/strong> Break out a new seasonal recipe on a\nweekend afternoon or evening when you\u2019ve got time to cook. One of my favorite\nrecipes at the moment is this delicious Summer Pasta with Smashed Tomatoes, Peaches & Mozzarella<\/a> recipe from the\nwebsite Green Kitchen Stories. It is so simple to prepare and is bursting with\nbright summer flavors. I make this recipe with chickpea pasta. The heat from\nthe hot pasta \u201ccooks\u201d the tomatoes on contact, and a fresh sliced peach or\nnectarine makes this dish irresistible. I finish it with fresh basil from my\ngarden and even toss in a few ounces of arugula to add more greens to the dish.\nWhile the recipe calls for mozzarella, I also have tried this salad with\nricotta salata and found it to be quite tasty! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\nlike serving the summer pasta salad alongside this bold and flavorful Sweet\nand Spicy Grilled Chicken<\/a> recipe from the website Yummly. It\u2019s a\ngreat excuse to fire up the grill! The sweetness of the honey mustard balances nicely\nwith the smoky heat of the chipotle peppers, so you get plenty of flavor\nwithout burning your mouth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sizzlin\u2019 summer\nsandals.<\/strong>\nSandals are a great footwear option for summer. (What better way to show off that\npedicure?) Choose a supportive pair of flat sandals for a casual and\ncomfortable look that can be worn with almost any outfit. For your dressier\nlooks, choose a nice pair of sandals with a bit of a heel, which will give you\na little lift and lengthen your frame. Lately, I have gravitated toward the\nchunky-heeled sandals that keep cropping up everywhere. The larger heel is\nsupportive and makes them comfortable to walk in, plus they look great with any\noutfit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
